4th of July is a festive day for our country. It is a day to get together with friends and family, for cookouts and fireworks. It’s a fun day. Yet as beautiful as the fireworks are to us, the fireworks can be stressful and frightening for our dogs and cats. Help to keep them calm and safe by following some tips

Things to do in advance:

*Make sure their ID tags and Microchips are up to date. American Veterinary Medical Association also suggests marking a safety harness with your contact information on your horse

*Have a current photo of your pets, just in case they get spooked by loud fireworks and escape

*Talk to his/her vet for anti anxiety meds if your pet has shown stress before when hearing fireworks

During firework celebrations:

*Leave your pets at home if your not hosting a gathering with friends and family. Leave them in a safe and secure room with treats and their favorite toys

*If your hosting a gathering, place notes on doors and fence gates to remind guests to make sure it is closed. Try to keep your pets indoors during the fireworks
